Frequently Asked 

How do I store the powders?

All of our products are stored to same, on a shelf in a preferably dry place with the lid sealed properly. It is a good idea to keep our products away from heat and moisture, particularly when using it over steam from your stove. Personally I shake a bit onto my hand or a bowl to add to my cooking. As for the black garlic, please refer to the black garlic section of the page. 

Are there any additives in
your product?

All of our products are of the highest quality, that means all natural. They are preservative free, with no sugar, no salt or sodium and definitely no fillers. They are gluten free and lactose friendly (except our ranch seasoning with buttermilk powder). We make our products with the intention of keeping it all just as nature intended with that incredible spicy and savoury taste. 


Do you grow all the garlic yourself?

Everything is grown on our own, farm and packaged in our proffessional kitchen.  We believe in doing everything ourselves, so that we are involved in the process all the way. 

Can I get refill bags so that I can refill my jars?

Yes you certainly can, at this time we only have refills for the garlic powder and the garlic chips. They are offered in 100g and 200g bags, so please hang on to your glass jars. I feel it's better for the environment and affordability.

Black Garlic 

The Candy of Garlic
What is it?

Black garlic is a type of garlic that has been fermented over a period of time under controlled heat and humidity. During the fermentation process, the garlic undergoes Maillard reaction and caramelization, resulting in its characteristic dark color, sweet taste, and soft texture. The cloves turn black and develop a molasses-like richness with  umami flavors reminiscent of balsamic vinegar, liquorice, soy sauce, fruity apricot, chocolate undertones and tamarind.

Black garlic has gained popularity in culinary circles for its unique taste and versatility. It is often used in various dishes, such as sauces, marinades, dressings, and even desserts. Additionally, black garlic is praised for its potential health benefits, as the fermentation process may enhance certain bioactive compounds and antioxidants present in garlic.

Storage and Shelf life

Storing black garlic is very easy, it all depends on what form you bought it in.  For example, the whole heads of black garlic can be left on the counter or in your pantry until you want to use it.  But once you expose the cloves you should leave it in the fridge in an airtight container and it will be good for three to four months. For longevity they can be frozen for six months. If you have bought peeled black garlic, store it in the fridge only for one to two months.  They will last for 6 months or more again in an airtight container, so just pull out one head at a time.


As for powdered black garlic, that's a bit trickier.  When you open your fresh bottle of Pure Music Garlic black garlic powder you will immediately notice 3 desiccant packages on the top and there will be 3 on the bottom.  I'm sure I don't have to say this…. but please don't eat them.  Because of the natural sugar in the black garlic, the moment I powder it, it wants to go back to a solid form.  I've had issues with the powder clumping into a solid mass and that's usually because of humidity from being used over heat or moisture or the lid was not put back on tight.  The best way to store the powder is to keep the desiccant packages in the bottle. if it's not shaking out of the sifter lid, remove the top 3 packages and twirl the end of a spoon around the jar and it should go back to soft powder again.

Now that I bought it…what do I do with it?


Please, use black garlic as you would roasted garlic and more! Go ahead and smear, rub, blend, mash, and sprinkle over and under anything you would put on a plate. I’m talking breakfast, appetizers, mains, dessert, snacks or your daily medication because black garlic is just that versatile. Also keep in mind @puremusicgarlic black garlic powder is umami fairy dust as well. Sprinkle that on a little bit of cream cheese and raspberry jam is outstanding! Add black garlic to vodka, mayonnaise, oil and vinegar, Dijon mustard, chili sauce, hoisin sauce and definitely butter! Black garlic pairs with all meat, fish, and seafood. Enjoy with  potatoes or veggies. Not sure about tofu; but why not!


But desserts…oh yeah!🤤 Chocolate ice cream mixed with a black garlic paste and olive oil…game changer. I can guarantee you have never tasted chocolate until this.

What does it taste like?

Nothing compares to the taste! It is the ultimate form of umami. What is umami? It means “the essence of deliciousness “ in Japanese. It is the core fifth taste on your tongue, meaning sweet and savoury. Umami lasts longer than other basic tastes, and provides a mouthwatering sensation! Close your eyes and think caramel, balsamic, molasses, soy sauce, liquorice, apricot and chocolate flavours.


Don’t be shy and pass up the opportunity to include this creamy rich flavour in ALL your cooking or baking, or just pop it in your mouth like a grape! It won’t give you dragon breath and scare away your date

Garlic Scapes

Mild Garlic flavour

What is it?

Garlic scapes are the thin, curly, green stalks that grow from the bulbs of garlic plants. If left unharvested, the scapes will eventually bloom a little flower as the garlic fully matures.  But most garlic farmers harvest this delicacy in late spring to early summer so the energy can go back to the garlic bulb in the ground.    

What does it taste like?

The resulting scapes taste like a unique blend of onion, scallion and garlic.  However, scapes are usually less fiery and have a fresher, greener taste than the actual garlic bulb.  The texture is similar to an asparagus, or green bean.

Fresh scapes unfortunately have a short season because garlic farmers try to get them off the plants as soon as possible (the longer they stay on the plant, the smaller and less tasty the bulb).  They are also not available in many generic grocery stores, so it's a good idea to stock up when you find them. Here at Boars Rock Farm, we grow up to 100 thousand garlic plants and have always offered scape lovers the opportunity to come out and pick all you want for free, as long as you help us pick a bag or two for our production process.

Storage and Shelf life

Garlic scapes are really easy to store and they will keep in the crispr for a couple of weeks.  You can also chop them up and freeze them in ziplock bags, which will preserve them for much longer.

Best Uses 

 I love grilled fresh scape.  Just like asparagus, toss them with a bit of avocado oil and whatever seasoning you prefer, and place them in the BBQ or oven for a couple of minutes.  I have had scape pesto….let me say that's incredible with chicken pasta.  And another favourite use is to simply pickle them as you would dill pickles. A great way to use the Scape Buds is simply chop them up into a tossed salad as a crouton substitute.

Garlic  Chips

Crunchy, Distinct and Versatile
What is it?

Garlic chips are thinly sliced cloves of garlic. They offer a concentrated burst of garlic flavor and a satisfying crunch that can enhance a wide variety of dishes. Unlike minced or powdered garlic, garlic chips provide a distinct texture and a bold garlic taste.

What does it taste like?

Garlic Chips deliver a harmonious blend of rich, savory, and slightly nutty garlic flavor with a satisfying crunch. They are a balance of garlic intensity and a delightful crisp texture. They will spice up any dish. Eat them by themselves as a challenge to see how much your taste buds can handle.

Best Uses 

Garlic chips can be used in a variety of ways. You can sprinkle them on top of salads, soups, pasta, or pizza for added flavor and crunch. They also make a delicious garnish for dishes like steak, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes.

How to use the Grinder

  • To grind the garlic chips, simply pull up on the colar of the grinder to get a corse grind, and push back down to get a fine grind. 

  • Control the amount of ground garlic chips by adjusting the number of rotations and the pressure you apply while grinding. Experiment to achieve the desired level of garlic flavor in your dish.

  • The ground garlic chips will fall directly onto your food or into the container below. Be cautious not to over-season; you can always add more but can't remove excess.

  • If the grinder becomes clogged or difficult to use, tap it gently to dislodge any stuck garlic chips.

  • To refill your container, just unscrew the top as the grinder is part of the lid. 

The key to preserving the freshness of garlic chips is to keep them in an airtight container. This container should be kept in a cool, dry place with a consistent temperature, away from direct sunlight.

Dragons   Breath Seasoning

Music  Garlic

Best uses

Raw Music garlic is very aromatic and offers a medium-hot, ‘true garlic’ flavour.  Use in any recipe that calls for raw, cooked, or roasted garlic, and  typically one clove can be used in most dishes.  Considered to be a staple in a chef’s kitchen, it is perfect in sauces, stir frys, marinades, rubs and dips.   Pure Music Garlic Products only uses our organic Music garlic and for making the best tasting black garlic.

What is it?

As our name suggests, we sell music garlic. It is a hardneck, Porcelain variety known for growing very large with 4 to 7 cloves per bulb.  The bulbs themselves are wrapped in layers of a thin, white, papery skin where the cloves are wrapped in a mauve, pink or brown-tinged skin, and are easy to peel.  Music garlic was originally brought to Canada from Italy during the 1980’s, and was named for Al Music, a tobacco farmer who introduced it to Ontario; they have a long shelf life and it is the most widely planted variety in Canada.  Music garlic grows best in areas with cooler summer months and thrives in climates with cold winters.
